Imagine yourself in a speakeasy during the Prohibition Era, sitting back, enjoying a drink and taking in hot jazz and blues. That’s what you’ll get when the Barrelhouse Wailers once again take the California Jazz & Wine Fest stage Sunday, April 9 at the Four Seasons in Westlake Village. Known for reviving the sounds of the 1920s and ‘30s, they use only acoustic instruments to retain the authentic sound of the period.
The band was formed in 2012 by guitarist Wayne Philipp and singer Karen Parkhouse, both who loved performing pre-World War II jazz and blues. The band, consisting of six to eight musicians, has been playing steadily around Ventura and Los Angeles since then.
Take a trip back in time and enjoy a fresh spin on classic jazz and blues.
